FAQs
GOOD QUESTIONS.
STRAIGHT ANSWERS.
The details that help you decide whether Trbo is right for your riding.
How do I join the free beta?
Apply with your riding setup. The beta is free for invited adults aged 18 and over in Australia. Applications are reviewed by hand, with account and setup instructions sent to accepted testers. No card is needed.
What does the planner actually do?
Give Trbo your goal, available riding days and weekly training time. It selects library workouts and organises them into training phases, with progression and recovery. Your riding and effort feedback inform recommendations. You can review the reasons before accepting proposed changes.
Is the planner AI-powered?
No. Trbo uses a deterministic rules engine. It follows defined training rules and explains its recommendations. There is no human coach or machine-learning system behind the plan.
Do I have to follow a plan?
No. Choose a workout from the library, build your own, or queue sessions together. The planner is there when you want a longer-term structure.
Which trainers can I ride with?
Trbo connects to compatible Bluetooth smart trainers and adjusts resistance through ERG mode. Include your trainer model when you apply so we can check your setup and send the right connection steps. FTMS control and a Wahoo control fallback are supported; power-only connections can supply readings but cannot control resistance.
How do I ride on iPhone or iPad?
Invited testers can ride through Trbo’s native test app, which handles the Bluetooth trainer connection. Choose iPhone or iPad when you apply and we’ll include installation steps with your invitation. Trainer connection is through the test app rather than Safari; public App Store downloads are not available yet.
How much can I customise a workout?
Resize a preset within its supported range, edit segment duration in minutes and seconds, build a workout from scratch, or queue workouts back to back. Set intensity as a percentage of FTP (functional threshold power) or RPE (perceived effort). Duration limits depend on the workout.
What if I do not know my FTP?
You can start with a clearly labelled estimate. If you build a plan from an estimated FTP, Trbo schedules an early ramp test. Ramp and 20-minute tests are also available in the library. FTP means functional threshold power: the reference power used to set your training zones.
Does Trbo connect to Strava?
Connecting Strava is optional. Completed indoor rides can be uploaded with recorded power and cadence, but not heart rate. Outdoor imports happen only when you request them: Trbo stores a summary with the ride’s name, date, duration and your chosen effort rating, not its route or heart-rate history.
What happens to my heart-rate data?
Heart rate is displayed during your ride and is not stored on Trbo’s servers. It can be included in workout files you choose to export to your own device. See the privacy policy for the full detail.
Is the beta free?
Yes. Invited beta testers pay nothing and do not need a payment card. Applying does not start a subscription. Paid membership is not open; pricing and terms will be published before paid signup becomes available.
Will applying start a paid subscription?
No. Applying for the beta does not start a subscription and no payment card is required. Paid signup is not available yet. Pricing and terms will be published before it opens.
When will I hear back?
Each application is read by a person. Invitations go out in small batches as places become available, so there is no fixed wait time. If a place is available for your setup, we’ll email you with access and setup steps. No need to apply again while you wait.
Who is the beta for?
The current beta is for adults aged 18 and over in Australia who ride indoors with a compatible Bluetooth smart trainer. Share your device and trainer model when you apply so we can check the setup with you.
What happens when I miss training?
Use the weekly check-in to tell Trbo how the week went. Missed training can prompt a return-to-training recommendation based on the riding you actually completed. Review the reason and choose whether to apply the proposal; you do not have to make up every missed session.
Do proposed plan changes happen automatically?
No. Suggested adjustments are shown for you to review, with a reason and a choice to apply or decline. Ride history and feedback inform the recommendations; they do not silently accept a proposal on your behalf.
What is the difference between power readings and trainer control?
Power readings show how hard you are riding. ERG control also lets Trbo send a power target to a compatible smart trainer, which adjusts resistance. A power-only Bluetooth connection can provide readings but cannot change resistance. The in-app readiness check tests these capabilities separately.
